Boxing is becoming one of the most popular fitness regimes. If you are looking to lose weight through cardiovascular workout and become strong, lean and toned then boxing is definitely for you – and it’s great fun! Our fully equipped boxing gym is open to all members of the community in the local area of Aldershot and Farnborough, whether you are interested in competing or just for fitness. No matter what your age, gender or ability, at Aldershot ABC we will have a class suitable for you.
Aldershot ABC is based in Alderwood Leisure, Tongham Road, Aldershot, Hants, GU12 4AS. We work with many youths some of whom are very disadvantaged. We believe boxing can provide a positive influence in many young people’s lives. Moreover, we have witnessed the important role a club like ours plays in an especially tough area where many have otherwise become victims of their own environment. We are proud to say that some of our members have, with the support of the club, taken control of their lives, their health and fitness and been able to apply the discipline the sport of boxing to their everyday lives. We adopt the ethos in initiatives which enhance young people’s life skills and promote social inclusion by helping them to make the most of their potential and become responsible citizens.
Andy Young is the founder of Aldershot Amateur Boxing Club, a former member of HM Forces who served in 5 Airborne Brigade in the Parachute Signal Squadron is an ex boxer and now head coach. Aldershot ABC has been re-established after an absence of almost 30 years. We are a non-profit making organization, registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and to keep the events such as our boxing shows successful, we rely on fund raising and local business sponsors.
Aldershot ABC would not be Aldershot ABC without Steve Jones who joined the club after serving over 25 years in the British Army and boxing at combined service level. He is a dedicated member of the Aldershot team and we are extremely lucky to have such an experienced senior coach at the club. It is without a doubt that Steve’s in-depth experience of boxing has led to the club being where it is today.
